Apathco Group was recognised as an outstanding business in 2009, winning the Integral Energy Illawarra Small Business of the Year award and was commended as a finalist for the Business Sustainability award. As proud members of the Illawarra Business Chamber, the Apathco Directors continue to reach out to other businesses in the local region to passionately discuss the benefits of sustainability in business.

Apathco Group has formed a strategic allicance with with Origin Energy and Low Carbon Australia to deliver an Energy Savings Guarantee for businesses and property owners across Australia. This initiative aims to help businesses identify and realise the benefits of energy efficiency through the installation and upgrading of energy efficiency measures. Key features of the initiative are the guarantee on energy savings achieved and the option to have Origin fund the works taking advantage of funds sourced from Low Carbon Australia.
We provide a turnkey energy efficiency solution supported by capital funding to business and property owners. Our primary aim is to develop cash flow positive energy efficiency projects. We guarantee your solution within +/- 20% and perform measurement & verification of the results.
1If the guaranteed savings are not achieved Apathco Engineering will either (a) pay you the savings shortfall for the savings guarantee period; (b) install alternative or additional equipment to achieve the guaranteed savings.
The Energy Savings Scheme is designed to increase the financial viability of opportunities that improve energy efficiency by rewarding companies such as yours that undertake projects that either reduce electricity consumption or improve the efficiency of electricity use. Apathco Engineering can create energy saving certificates on your behalf and provide you with an additional revenue stream from undertaking energy saving projects. Our priority projects types are:
Apathco Engineering provides subsidised energy audits and facilitation to help NSW businesses identify and implement energy savings. An independent energy audit can be crucial in determining your energy use and identifying projects that will deliver cost savings. Highly qualified energy auditors will identify opportunities for your organisation to save energy and provide business cases with payback periods and an implementation plan.
These opportunities can be technology upgrades and retrofits, improved maintenance procedures or staff behavioural changes. Technical support will be provided during the implementation phase by Apathco Engineering.
To be eligible for the Energy Saver, sites must use between 160MWh and about 10Gwh of electricity a year.

With experience in the heavy industries of mining and metal manufacturing, Tony is a highly skilled Design Engineer with extensive experience in engineering project management. Tony manages the Apathco Engineering division and leads his team to deliver sustainability projects to the clients of Apathco Group.

"Sustainability to me is how long we exist; everything we do at work and at home has an effect on our future. I take the approach that every little thing we do towards improving sustainability helps the future. I like to picture my kids and grandkids enjoying all of the beauty this planet has to offer.

After several years working in the Steel Manufacturing and Mining industries, Michael has decided to return to the University of NSW to study a Masters in Sustainable Development. Michael is a part-time member of the Apathco team.
How does Michael embrace sustainability?
"Sustainability is a mindset, it is about finding solutions to the way we live that ensures maximum efficiency in design, minimal to zero environmental impact, social equity and economic stability."
What does Michael like most about working at Apathco?
"It's our interest and desire to be a leader when it comes to green tech, energy efficiency across medium to large businesses and buildings in the Illawarra, as well as our approach to innovation and thirst to seek the best solutions through intelligent technologies."

Natasha is our Business Administration Assistant. Graduating from a degree in Marketing and Human Resource Management at the University of Wollongong, Natasha keeps the Apathco team organised and helps our clients to understand the business.
How does Natasha embrace sustainability?
"I embrace sustainability through the lifestyle that I lead. Little things don't always feel like they count but they do. Therefore I recycle, turn my lights off when I don't need them, use energy efficient globes and I'm mindful of what I put in my waste bin. I also like to take public transport as much as I can or walk to save on fuel emissions."
What does Natasha like most about working at Apathco?
"What I like most is the work environment at Apathco. Working with good people in a team based environment is great for achieving organisational and personal goals, which largely increases job satisfaction and a sense of being able to contribute."
What does Natasha want to achieve in the next three years?
"In the next three years I would like to go back to University and complete my Masters, to be specialised in my chosen career path. I would also like to fit in some travelling, I believe it is important to better one-self, there are so many interesting things to do and places to see, the list is endless."

Migrating from sunny Ireland to cloudy Australia, Peter joins the Apathco team with a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion for helping the Apathco clients to improve their energy efficiency. Previously working for a large European facilities management company, Peter has settled into the consultancy world with strong ambitions to add value to his clients.
How does Peter embrace sustainability?
For me sustainability is a journey that we all must take to secure the future, put simply we need to change our current way of life. I practice sustainability at home in the usual ways, by recycling and choosing energy efficient goods and so on. Most importantly I feel that we must be proactive in generating new ideas and learning from others. I am fortunate that through my work, I have the opportunity to assist others to be more sustainable and learn from my colleagues who are experts in the field of sustainability.
What does Peter like most about working at Apathco?
I most enjoy working as part of a great team, helping our clients with the various aspects of their sustainability journey. In particular, I accomplish this through assisting companies in identifying and implementing energy efficiency measures.
What does Peter want to achieve in the next three years?
I want to bring our quality service to an increasing number of organisations. To achieve this goal I will ensure that I strengthen my business and technical knowledge. It is essential for me to keep abreast of the latest energy efficient technologies to offer the best value in the market. On a personal level I want to enjoy my new life in Australia, visit friends and relations in Ireland and design a sustainable house to build in the future. I also want to become involved in the community to help others in the area of sustainability.
